Therapeutic Play and Play Therapy Services in Thanet

Harbour Therapy offers professional therapeutic play and play therapy for children aged 3 to 13 in Thanet and the surrounding areas. Play Therapy helps children make sense of their feelings and experiences through play — their natural way of communicating. When words are hard to find, play provides a safe and gentle way for children to express themselves, explore worries and begin to heal. Using toys, art, sand and imaginative play I will support your child to understand their emotions, build confidence and develop healthy ways to cope with life’s challenges.

I am registered with Play Therapy UK (PTUK) and have extensive experience in developmental trauma and Special Educational Needs (SEN). I provide a safe, confidential and nurturing environment where children can explore their feelings, build resilience and develop healthy coping strategies. Referrals are welcome from parents, schools and local authorities and I offer a flexible mobile service within schools.

Play Therapy Can Help

Children often express their feelings and experiences through play rather than words. Play Therapy offers them a safe, supportive space to explore difficult emotions, make sense of their world and begin to heal.

Through the therapeutic power of play, children can build resilience, develop healthier relationships and find new ways to express themselves — all at their own pace, in their own unique way.

If you recognise a child in any of the descriptions above, Play Therapy may be able to help them move towards greater confidence, wellbeing and happiness.

About Me

Sarah

Therapeutic Play Practitioner and Trainee Play Therapist

Hello, I’m Sarah, a qualified Therapeutic Play Practitioner and Trainee Play Therapist. I am passionate about supporting children’s emotional wellbeing through play, helping them to express themselves and make sense of their experiences in a safe, accepting space. Before beginning my play therapy journey, I spent 18 years working as a teacher in both mainstream and specialist education settings, including schools exclusively for children with special educational needs. I am also trained in working with children who have experienced developmental trauma. This experience has given me a deep understanding of children’s diverse communication styles and developmental needs, which I bring into my therapeutic practice at Harbour Therapy.
